The first death I remember was my Mother's Father. He died of cancer one night in 1943. I was 6 years old. We called him Bumpa. He was a loving and caring grandfather. I remember my Dad taking my brother and me to the funeral home to see his body It scared me a lot. The funeral was scary as the women moaned and cried out. All in all, it was not a good experience.
Bumpa was a Lutheran. Based on the evidence, I think he was a Christian. If so, he is in heaven waiting for me. At that time, though, I swore off of death. It was not good.
Death is a major strategy by Satan. It took God thousands of years to unwind Satan's bite in the beginning and it cost God the life of His son. Satan was defeated at the cross. This purpose of this journey of ours on earth, if we find Christ, is to defeat Satan over and over again.
As I continue to explore the phases of life, I realize that my death is the last major event in my temporal life. This month's blog further explores that topic. Finally, I want to thank Lance Gowen for his assistance with this month's blog.
Love and praying for you!

The subject of the May blog is honoring your parents. This is a key command out of the Ten Commandments. It is skillfully brought to us by my friend, Paul Gouin.
I am reminded of my own journey in this area. I am also reminded of my failures and the delight when I got it right. This blog is focused on honoring your parents during the last act of their life.
Is this command important to God? Yes since it is the only command with a promise and Jesus demonstrated it on the cross.
John 19:25-27
Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
Even to his death, the welfare of His parent was on His mind.
Paul and Rachel Gouin are in the trench fighting out the obedience to this command. Study this passage with your spouse and resolve to honor your parents to the end.
Love and praying for you!
